Tumkur University

Tumkur University was launched in 2004 in Tumkur, Karnataka. The university was accredited under section 12(b) of the UGC Act, 1956. In the same year, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an inter-university council of the UGC, accredited the University with "B" Grade in the three-grade rating scale. It has twelve postgraduate departments, two constituent colleges and ninety-four affiliated colleges. It instituted twenty-nine research centres to encourage advanced multi-disciplinary research and academic collaborations in 2012. The University College of Science (erstwhile Government Science College) was launched in 1940.
