Berhampur University, Berhampur

The Berhampur University came into being on second January 1967 being introduced by Dr. A.N. Khosla, the then Governor of Orissa and the 1st Chancellor of the University. AT time campus is known as Bhanja Vihar, identified after one of the greatest poets of Odisha, Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja. The university has a wide field under its jurisdiction comprising the districts of Ganjam, Nowrangapur, Malkangiri, Kandhamala, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, and Boudh. There are 20 post-graduate departments in it offering specialized subjects and M. Phil programmes. The university has reached great distinction in the academic world because of the qualitative and quantitative production of M. Phil., Ph.D., D. Litt and D. Sc degrees.
