Kuvempu University was founded in
1987, is a famous public state university settled in Shimoga, Karnataka. It has
been called after the great Kannada writer, Jnanpith laureate, Kuvempu, doyen
of Kannada literature. The university was accredited through the UGC in 1994
and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The university
has offered fifty-nine post-graduate departments of studies in the faculties of
Commerce, Education, Arts, Science and Law, four PG diplomas (regular) and one
undergraduate programme. There are lots colleges associated to this university providing
undergraduate courses in the above-mentioned faculties.
