IIT Mumbai

IIT Mumbai was established in 1958 and it is the 2nd-oldest (after Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur) institute of the Indian Institutes of Technology system. It campus is settled at Powai. Is has seventeen departments, thirteen multi-disciplinary centre’s, and three schools of excellence. The Indian Institute of Technology is one of the fifteen higher Institutes of Technology in the nation set up with the objective of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various areas of Science and Technology. IIT Mumbai offers a wide variety of syllabuses in engineering, pure sciences, design, management and humanities with a primary focus on engineering. The Institute on an average admits 880 candidates for the undergraduate programme by Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), 280 candidates for two Year M.Sc. programmes, one thousand candidates for different postgraduate programmes and 450 for PhD programmes every year.
