The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) was established on 29th July 1876 by Dr Mahendra Lal Sircar, is an independent Institute. It is the most previous research institute in Nation. The institute is committed to the spare-time activity of fundamental research in the frontier areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Energy, Polymer and Materials. It is a national institution for higher studying whose main aim is to foster high quality fundamental research in field subjects of the basic sciences. The Institute is contiguous to the Jadavpur University and Indian Institute of Chemical Biology.
