University of Peradeniya was set
up 1942 as a University of Ceylon then renamed on 1978 as a University of
Peradeniya. The university is placed spans almost seven hundred hectares in the
Mahaweli flood plain with famous for its natural beauty. It University has 9
faculties, 2 postgraduate institutes, ten centres, seventy-three departments,
and teaches approximately eleven thousand scholars. It is the only residential
university with offers residential facilities to most of its undergraduate scholars,
all its academic staff members and guests.
