The University of Mumbai was founded
in 1857 and is one of the first 3 state universities of India and the most
former in Maharashtra. The University has 3 campuses in Mumbai. The MU Kalina
campus has on-campus graduate training and research centres. The University of
Mumbai provides Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree courses apart from diplomas
and certificates in many fields. The University was accorded five star positions
in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 through the National Assessment
and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been allowed University with Potential
for Excellence (UPE) position through UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.
