The Gauhati University was launched
in 1948 which is settled in Jalukbari, Guwahati. It is the 1st oldest and famous
University in the entire North East India. It is offreing Majority of the Post
Graduate (PG) courses and offered through the respective departments of the
university belonging to various faculties. The undergraduate courses are generally
carried out in our associated (off campus) colleges. Now there are about 326
Colleges/Institutes which comes under this university. The library is the biggest
in Assam, holding approximately 850,000 books, magazines and journals in its
collection.
