Calcutta University

The University of Calcutta was founded on 24 January 1857. It informally famous known as Calcutta University or CU and is a public state university settled in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), West Bengal. It is accepted as a "5 Star University" and a "Centre with Potential for Excellence" through the University Grants Commission and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university has a total of fourteen campuses cover the city of Kolkata and its suburbs. The university has sixty five departments coordinated into 8 faculties agriculture; arts; commerce; social welfare & business management; education, journalism and library science; engineering & technology; fine arts, music and home science; law and science. Calcutta University offered UG, PG and PhD degree programmses various fields of education.
