The University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad was founded on 1986. The 4-day yearly Krishi Mela coordinated through the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad, will be held here from Sept 9. This year's UAS Dharwad Krishimela also coincides with the silver jubilee celebrations. As lots as five hundred stalls, letting in UAS consultancy stalls and economy stalls would be launched. They would center on rainwater harvesting instrumentation, farm machinery and biopesticides, amongst others.
UAS Dharwad Krishimela would issue 2 modern varieties of wheat, UAS 304 and UAS 428 with yield possible of forty-six quintal per hectare & resistant to multiple diseases. The Modern DMT 5 and DMT 1 varieties of tomatoes issued would have a capacity to produce twenty-seven tones per hectare. This year, ten lakh people are expected to participate in UAS Dharwad Krishimela. UAS had determined to go plastic-free this year.
