Laxmibai Physical Education College Gwalior was launched through the Govt of India as the National College of Physical Education in the year 1957. It was called after the valiant queen of Jhansi, Rani Lakshmibai, who laid down her life struggling with the British system, for independency of her state. The primary objective of the university is to better the status of physical education through undergraduate and post graduate degrees and diplomas. It encourages participation of the mass in sports and physical education and provides academic and professional leadership to other academies in the area of sports.
