Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is a most famous public research institute and university in Kolkata's northern fringe of Baranagar, India. It was established by Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis on 1931. It is one of the most previous and most honored institutions focused on Statistics, and its early reputation led it to constituting adopted as a model for the beginning US institute of statistics establish at the Research Triangle, North Carolina by Gertrude Mary Cox.
