Tianjin University or TJU was set
up on 2nd October 1895, is the 1st modern higher education institution in
China. It is a key university in China, one of China’s 1st groups of key
universities of "Project 211" and "Project 985". The
university at present has six national key fields of study and seventeen
municipal key fields of study. The university consists of twelve schools. There
are over eighty laboratories, one hundred ten research institutes, fifteen
experimental research and engineering development centers at the university.
The university has twelve first-grade fields of study and forty-nine
second-grade fields of study that confer Doctoral degree, eighty-seven
disciplines conferring master's degree, seventeen engineering disciplines
conferring master's degree in engineering. Now there are fifteen postdoctoral
research programs, four national key laboratories, one national engineering
research center, two technology research and promotion centers of national scientific
and technological achievements, seven engineering technological R&D centers
and open laboratories at ministerial level.
