Tongji University was set up on
1907 through the German government together with German physicians in Shanghai.
It is particularly famous for its engineering and architecture programs. It is
one of the most former and most prestigious universities in China. The
university provides diverse courses in its eighty-one Bachelor's degrees, 151
Masters, fifty-eight PhD programs and thirteen post doctoral mobile stations.
Tongji University is especially renowned for its Civil Engineering and
Architecture programs. The university is active in encouraging cooperation and
exchanges with other nations. A number of international joint programs have
been instituted among the university and its counterparts in other countries in
recent years.
