Indira Gandhi Agricultural University or IGAU was founded on 20 January 1987 in Raipur through the State Legislature (Act No. 20 of 1987), is an agricultural university settled in Raipur in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It is offer a new dimension to the agriculture development of Chhattisgarh neighborhood of the state, which is known as the "Rice Bowl". The primary objectives of the university are to supply education in agriculture and allied science, to further research particularly in agriculture and allied sciences; take on field extension programmes for proper transfer of technology and such other functions related to the aforesaid with the aim of bettering the socio-economic level of rural people. Scholars are allowed to undergraduate courses after declaration of result of pre admission test carried on by C G Board, Raipur.
