UAS Bangalore was launched on 1964 and it is located in Bangalore, India. It presently has administrative home office at the Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) in Bangalore. The university was accredited as the better agricultural university in India through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. ICAR was conferred the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award for excellence in educational activity, research and extension on 2001. Currently the university provides masters degree in forty-seven disciplines and Ph.D in thirty-four fields of study. The Department of Agricultural Botany at the UAS Bangalore is one of the most previous in the nation started at Hebbal on 1965 by the then Govt. of Mysore to engage educational activity, research and extension activities in field crop improvement
