IACS Kolkata was founded more than one hundred thirty years ago by Dr. Mahendra Lal Sircar, who cherished to build a scientific culture among his countrymen. The Indian Association for Cultivation of Science determined to keep its custom alive and try to redress this situation. Consequently, an eight week long summer school for school leaving scholars was begun on 1999 to motivate the better scholars to pursue academics. The school starts out in the 2nd week of May after the IIT JEE and the state JEE are over and works till the 2nd week of July. There are 2 lectures per day, 5 days a week making a total of eighty lectures.
Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science declares IACS Kolkata Summer Training programs on Basic Sciences for School Leaving Scholars on 24th May, 2011 to 7th June, 2011, Medium of Teaching in Bengali. The Thirteen IACS Kolkata Summer Training for School leaving scholarly person (who looked in Class XII-science final examination) will begin on 24th May, 2011. Interested Students willing to registration should contact the Department of Theoretical Physics Office, IACS Kolkata on any working day or collect the registration form IACS website.
