IACS Kolkata Chemistry Department (Organic) is involved in the frontline research in properties of organic molecules and materials. It is a main part of IACS Kolkata. The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS Kolkata) was established in July 1876 in Kolkata and it is a national institution for higher learning whose main purpose is to foster high quality fundamental research in frontier fields of the basic sciences. The original aim of the Association, which remains even nowadays, was to cultivate science in all its sections both with a view to its advancement by original research and to its varied applications to the arts and comforts of life.
